Volunteer Internship Program

Volunteers like you are essential to supporting our community partners and the work they do to make their communities a better place. This page will provide you with all the information you need to determine the best volunteer experience for you.

Our Volunteer Internship Program is an in-depth individualized internship experience customized to your skills and interest level. This sort of opportunity will allow you to make a difference while working on your professional development, honing your skills and experience, and staying comfortable and safe.

Remote/Virtual Opportunities

Remote/virtual placements are a great opportunity for those that would prefer to work from home. This is perfect for those that have any issues with commuting,  or other scheduling limitations. The majority of this internship when done remotely will be done via technology, using Zoom and phone calls, and requires the following of each intern:

  • Laptop/desktop computer

  • Telephone

Confirm Your Project Focus

All of our internships provide support to community-based nonprofit organizations in a capacity building format. This means volunteers will be providing administrative support to these organizations in a variety of tasks to help them better achieve their missions. Tasks may vary from organization to organization and week to week but may include research, outreach, social media and marketing, data analysis, etc. Interns will get to support organizations in the following focus areas (but are not limited to these):

Requirements

  • Required Next Steps

    • Fill out the registration form 

    • Sign NWV waiver and pay $100 deposit

      • This deposit is applied towards your full program fee​

    • Pay full program fees 30 days before program start date

      • For the Summer 2020 program, full program fees are required 7 days before start date​

  • ​Required Hours:​​​

    • Summer Term

      • Minimum of 8 hours per week - 8 weeks per term  

    • Fall, Winter, Spring Terms

      • Minimum of 4 hours ​per week - 8 weeks per term

​​

  • Required GPA: Minimum 3.0 or greater​

​

  • Specific Requirements for Remote/Virtual Opportunities:

    • Access to internet​
    • Telephone

    • Laptop/desktop computer
