Environmental Sustainability

As our world faces the effects of climate change, organizations dedicated to promoting environmental sustainability becomes more and more crucial. The Environmental Sustainability project is perfect for those volunteers excited to support sustainable efforts.

Volunteer tasks widely vary from supporting recycling efforts to working in community gardens or urban farms removing invasive species, maintaining bioswales, or planting.

Community Development

Through the Community Development project, you’ll gain a greater understanding of the communities you work with. It is ideal for those hard-working volunteers who want to support low-income communities in any way they can.

Work is varied depending on location and community need but can include: working with a homeless shelter, community center, or urban garden, sorting donated household goods, helping organizations beautify their spaces, and more.

Youth Support

Are you passionate about supporting our young people? The Youth Support project works to help those organizations dedicated to providing safe spaces that promote learning and development for disadvantaged children and teens.

Volunteer tasks can include helping schools, community centers or churches facilitate their programing, beautifying spaces, re-organizing classrooms, administrative support tasks, and more.

Tasks include building, painting, landscaping, and other construction-related tasks. If you enjoy physical work, this is the project for you!

Please note that this project has a required donation of $50 per week to help the community partner with materials and other costs.

Volunteers are hosted in a dormitory-style volunteer accommodation located within Greater New Orleans. This location is a short drive/taxi/bus ride to the colorful Bywater neighborhood and downtown New Orleans with easy access to small shopping and food stores nearby.

The volunteer house has the feel of a school camp and can accommodate over 300 volunteers at a time. It is a relatively basic dormitory-style accommodation with bunk beds. There are shared bathroom facilities equipped with western toilets. Showers are located in a shower trailer just outside the main building. For your entertainment, the accommodation provides a basketball court, a volleyball net, a large outdoor field for games, a television, indoor games, and WiFi.
